1 - Current and Term Accounts
I would like to open a current account/term account in EUR or foreign currency in Komerční banka Bratislava (herein "KB Bratislava"). What is required for the opening?

For opening of your account in Komerční banka Bratislava you would need, if you are:

  1. resident - legal or physical person - entrepreneur: original or certified copy of a document confirming the legal status, not older than 3 months.
     
    Companies registered in Companies or Trade Register of Slovak Republic have to submit the abstract from this register or a document justifying the entrepreneur's activity as physical person - entrepreneur (for example: trading license, license).
     
    Persons not registered in the Companies or Trade Register of Slovak Republic have to submit another document justifying their legal status, it means civil associates, political parties and political stirring, sacral and religious corporations, spare-time legal associates, foundations, funds and other similar subjects need to submit statute where Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia confirms their registration.
     
    Further, the clients have to submit an Identity Card of member/members of the statutory body of the company or an Identity Card of a  physical person - entrepreneur (it means an Identity Card, a residence permit for a foreigner with the register of a permanent residence on the territory of Slovak Republic) and passport. 
     
  2. resident - physical person - person, older than 18, eventually a person that attained a lawful age in a different way:
    • an identity paper, it means identity card (the passport is not acceptable); a residence permit for a foreigner with the register of a permanent residence on the territory of Slovak Republic. The client submit as a further document justifying the identity - a passport, driving licence, insurance certificate, birth certificate;
    • legally valid court judgment and valid identity paper of the curator nominee by the court (for persons in major age, which have been limited by court in their capability for legal actions),
    • the persons with a physical handicap/invalids or the persons, who can't read or write submit an identity paper and the signature of the contract is done by a presence of a third person (for a case that Client can understand the content of the contract via third person selected by him and he can personally sign the contract) or in the form of notarized inscription.
  3. non-resident - legal person:
    • a document justifying the legal status, not older than 3 months (it means a document from the Companies Register or similar register in the country of the legal person residence) and containing the legal form, residence, register date, trade name of the legal person, denomination of the statutory body and the form of acting and signing on behalf of the company. If this document does not contain the identification and the signatures of statutory bodies, it is necessary to submit another documents (Articles of Association, Memorandum of Association, statutes) which declares it.
       
      On the basis of The acceptation of validated documents in SR the verification of public letters for using in SR is realized by special verification - Apostille. Contracting states does not demand with each other verification of public letters, for which is the acceptation valid to. The public letter is supplemented by verification delivered by competent authority of the state, which is letter from, with position directly on the letter or on its extension.
       
      If Slovakia has not concluded a Contract on legal support (with acceptation of validated documents) with the country of registered seat of the company the concerned documentation has to be super legalized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia and in case of doubt, Bank requires authorized translation to the Slovak language. 
       
    • identification of statutory body, i.e. identification card, passport or different document certifying identity with photography (e.g. driving license);
  4. non-resident - physical person (citizen): an identity paper, it means identity card, passport or other document with a photo, confirming the identity of the client (driving license);
  5. non-resident - physical person - entrepreneur: an identity paper of the owner of an account (it means a passport) and a document confirming the identity with the photo (for example: a driving license, a residence permit), abstract from a Companies, Trade or a similar register of the country of origin.
How can I open an account in KB Bratislava?

The Bank shall open an account based on the client’s personal attendance in whichever KB Bratislava business center (in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Žilina or in Košice). KB Bratislava is prepared to open such account remotely to the client of Komerční Banka, a.s. in Czech republic, through his relationship manager in Komerční banka.

May I open the account of Komerční banka, a.s. in your business center as it is your owner?

KB Bratislava is 100% daughter company of Komerční banka, i.e. KB Bratislava is not its branch. On the basis of this fact, it is not possible to open such account or enable any other services of Komerční banka in our business centers.

May I manage my accounts opened and maintained in Komerční banka, through KB Bratislava business centers or electronic banking services?

KB Bratislava is 100% daughter company of Komerční banka, i.e. KB Bratislava is not its branch. On the basis of this fact, it is not possible to offer this kind of services to Komerční banka’s clients. The same goes for the, KB Bratislava clients who can not dispose with their accounts in Komerční banka.

In which currencies can I open current or term account?

Komerční banka Bratislava opens current and term accounts in domestic currency EUR and foreign currencies CZK and USD.

What are the conditions for opening and maintenance of an account?

The condition for opening an account is a minimal deposit on the account. The current account balance should not be lower than minimum balance specified by the Bank. Minimum deposit and minimum balance on the current account should be identical. The amounts of minimal deposits are following according to the type of the account:

  1. Current accounts in EUR or foreign currency (CZK and USD), with the minimum balance of 170 EUR (5.121,42 SKK*)/ 4,000 CZK/ 140 USD for legal persons and private individuals entrepreneurs
  2. Current accounts in EUR or foreign currency (CZK and USD), with the minimum balance of 500,- EUR (15.036 SKK*)/ 15,000 CZK/ 500 USD for private individuals
  3. Term accounts in EUR or foreign currency (CZK and USD), with the minimum balance of 1.700 EUR (51.214,20 SKK*)/ 40,000 CZK/ 2,000 USD for legal persons and private individuals entrepreneurs
  4. Term accounts in EUR or foreign currency (CZK and USD), with the minimum balance of 1.700 EUR (51.214,20 SKK*)/ 40,000 CZK/ 2,000 USD for private individuals

* using conversion rate 1 EUR = 30,1260 SKK

What is a frequency of current account statement issuing? May I download the statement from internet?

Paper statements of current accounts are generated automatically by the Bank. Client can choose the way of statement receiving :

  • personal taking at business centre or
  • sending the statement by mail to designated permanent address (or to correspondent address defined by the client).

The frequency of statement issuing is :

  • daily upon account movement,
  • weekly,
  • monthly,
  • quarterly (valid only for legal persons)
  • yearly (valid only for legal persons)

(see Price list for fees).

Electronic statements issued by Internetbanking are not usable for legal purposes as the form is not same as in the paper statement.

When can I dispose with the term account? Can I do it also through internet?

KB Bratislava offers term accounts with non recurring maturity, or with automatic renewals of the deposit. In case of non recurring maturity, client can dispose with the funds in a maturity date. client, who has term account with automatic renewals of the deposit can reduce or increase the funds in a deposit renewal date. Minimum sum of cash deposit is 30,- EUR (903,78 SKK*), or its foreign currency equivalent. In case the deposit maturity day falls on a day that is not a Business Day, the deposit (including any interest paid on it) may be withdrawn in cash on the nearest subsequent Business Day.

Client can realize premature withdrawal from term account - out of renewal date (except term account with maturity of 7 days). The Bank shall be entitled to charge the premature withdrawal fee and other fees related to the early withdrawal. There is no possibility to dispose with deposit on term account through electronic banking.

Does KB Bratislava offer any special accounts for students and retirees or savings books?

KB Bratislava does not offer special accounts for students or retirees, also does not offer savings books. KB Bratislava is a corporate bank and is oriented to corporate clients.

Does KB Bratislava offer anonymous accounts and accounts with more owners?

No, KB Bratislava does not offer these types of accounts.

What is the charge of KB Bratislava for opening, maintaining and canceling of account?

KB Bratislava offers for its clients opening, maintaining and canceling of account free of charge.

2 - System of cash payment
Can I realize deposits and withdrawals in cash in all of your business centers?

KB Bratislava offers its products and services through 4 business centers, but system of cash payment is realized in 3 of them, namely in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Košice.

Business center Žilina actually works in cashless mode.

I need to withdraw a bulk cash from my account in KB Bratislava. Do I have to notify this transaction to bank?

Yes, client is owed to notify the Bank with cash withdrawal bigger then 3.350 EUR (100.922,10,- SKK*), or conversion to the foreign currency in which Client will withdraw the cash, at least 2 work days in advance.

I need to deposit some money in cash to account maintained in Komerční banka in Czech republic. Is it possible?

Only like a foreign payment from client’s current account maintained in KB Bratislava. KB Bratislava is 100% daughter company of Komerční banka, i.e. KB Bratislava is not its branch. KB Bratislava uses different bank systems which do not enable to handle such a kind of cash deposit, but they enable to realize the transaction like foreign payment from the current account maintained in KB Bratislava.

3 - Exchange office services
In what currencies does KB Bratislava do exchange office services? What is the exchange rate and related charges?

KB Bratislava offers exchange office services in currencies CZK and USD according to license granted by NBS and valid legislation. Currency rates are listed in Currency Rates List (bank halls or internet pages). Individual rates for the clients are granted separately according to the interbank rates. Fees for such services are listed in the Price list.

Starting February 16, 2005 KB Bratislava offers currency exchange services only in bank hall in Bratislava.

4 - System of cashless payment
At what time during opening hours should I present (personally/electronically) standard payment orders with maturity of same day in business centre at latest?

KB Bratislava enables to its clients to present standard payment orders at latest to the end of business centers opening hours - i.e. to 4 pm. In the case of presenting payment order made by electronic banking the Bank can accept it to 4.30 pm.

How much time does it take to realize domestic payment order to account maintained in another bank? Is it possible to affect the time?

KB Bratislava handles domestic payment order with maturity in same day so that all money are received on another bank account following work day. A date of receiving transfer to client's account in another bank depends on rules of that bank. That means a  standard domestic payment transaction takes 2 work days.
KB Bratislava offers also express payments which are handled within a work day if client presents the payment order at latest to 2 pm of maturity day.

5 - Foreign payment system
A foreign client of mine would like to send me money. What details will they need from me to do this?

For the realization of a payment order you need to fill in as follows:

  • the account number of the recipient in the bank of the recipient IBAN and BIC or bank connection in format of account number and bank code,
  • the recipient's name or title
  • the recipient's address.

Further, you need to write in detail the bank's specifications, which is its official name and address of the branch where the account is opened. You must also mention your bank's SWIFT code (i.e. BIC code), which is KOMB SK BA and KB Bratislava's routing code 8100. You can check the account number in IBAN format with our employees at the branches. Can I send the funds in domestic currency EUR to account in foreign country under advantaged conditions?

Yes, KB Bratislava enables to realize foreign standard/express payment up to 50.000 EUR (1.506.300 SKK*) to countries of The European economic area (herein "EEA") by presenting the payment order personally in business centre or electronically with shared charges “SHA” – so complies with the criteria for specially regulated transfers, charged by the bank like a standard domestic payment. Foreign urgent payment, which complies with the criteria for specially regulated transfers, is charged like a domestic express payment.

I am your Client and I am planning to transfer money by foreign payment to recipient's account in Komerční banka. Are there any benefits founded from ownership relations between the banks for me?

Yes, KB Bratislava realize every incoming payment (from client of Komerční banka) and outgoing payment (to client of Komerční banka) without any charges.
In case of urgent foreign payment in favour of Komerční banka’s client, the Bank defined a charge much lower in comparison with foreign payment in favour of other bank client.

6 - Payment cards
What kind of payment cards do you offer?

KB Bratislava offers private and business debit payment cards to Current Accounts in EUR, issued by MasterCard company.
These cards are usable for cash withdrawal from ATM in inland and abroad, cash withdrawal in exchange offices and bank branches (receiving MasterCard cards), cashless payments for products or services through POS-terminal and also cashless payments through internet.

Where are ATMs of KB Bratislava placed?

KB Bratislava does not have any own ATMs. Our clients can use all ATMs inland and abroad for the same charge.

What limits on payment card do you offer? Is the limit defined by the bank or by myself?

KB Bratislava offers to client a possibility to choose from 4 to 5 limit types (according to the type of payment card) valid in currency CZK and defined weekly.

7 - Electronic banking
What type of account can I use an electronic banking services to?

KB Bratislava offers electronic banking services to bank accounts in domestic currency EUR and also foreign ones CZK and USD.
The main condition of using services from foreign bank account is establishing the electronic banking to domestic bank account in EUR.

How can I control my current accounts in KB Bratislava?

Komerční banka Bratislava offers four different types of the electronic banking.
Internetbanking and Homebanking will allow you to operate your accounts easily over the internet passively and actively, where you have the possibility to monitor your account balance, operations on the account, realize domestic and foreign payments and monitor your account statements. The services are available 24 hours a day.
Mailbanking and GSMbanking will allow you to operate your accounts passively by e-mail messages (Mail banking) or by your mobile phone (GSM banking) where you have the possibility to monitor your account balance in Slovakia and abroad and the services are available 24 hours a day.

How is protected a security of Internetbanking?

How long does a delivery of authentication calculator take and where can I get it?

KB Bratislava will send you or hand you the calculator on personally in the Bank after completion of all administrative terms (signature of contract documents) and consignation of minimal deposit to current account, for which Internetbanking is established.

I am interested in arranging electronic banking services. What do I have to do?

If you have an current account opened in our bank, you can visit one of our branches and ask for arranging one of the form of electronic banking services that our bank offers- Internet banking, Home banking, Mail banking or GSM banking. You can ask for more information about usage of these services our employees in the branches by telephone or by visiting our branches personally.
KB Bratislava is prepared to arrange these services remotely to client, which is also the client of Komerční Banka, a.s. in Czech republic, through his bank consultant in Komerční banka.

Komerční banka Bratislava as a corporate bank is oriented to corporate clients and does not offer consumer loans.

Komerční banka Bratislava does not offer mortgage loans to retail clients for living usage, but we offer many types of loans that you can finance real estate as a corporate client.

10 - Shares of Komerční banka, a.s.
What shall I need, as a shareholder of KB, for dividend payout?

Our mother company, Komerční banka, a.s., delivers to all shareholders a notification of dividend payout with instructions how to process the payout. After presentation of ID card in the Komerční banka branch in the Czech Republic, client can choose the form of dividend payout (cashless or cash transaction). KB Bratislava is not a branch of Komerční banka, but a independent legal subject in Slovak Republic, and therefore these operations are not accessible through business centers of KB Bratislava.
